Why India?

Some of the main reasons why the entrepreneurs in Europe should focus on India are the following:

  • India is the 4th biggest economy in the world with considerable development potential.
  • EU - India relationship goes back to more than 500 years and covers important areas of investment, trade, technical assistance and cultural interaction.  As a result, EU and India have entered into a Strategic Partnership Agreement to advance trade investment and outsourcing. There are already action plans on both sides to give shape to the strategic partnership.
  • A stable and long democratic governance with presence of all major legislative, judicial, economic and financial institutions, such as investment banks, insurance companies, chambers of commerce. The Mumbai stock exchange is one of the oldest in the world with a large shareholding population. There is also a consensus among political parties and groups on economic and trade liberalization.
  • Ready availability of semi-skilled, professional and managerial manpower with internationally known training institutions.
  • Availability of a wide range of raw materials, minerals, intermediate and finished products required by different industries.
  • A big reservoir of foreign exchange facilitating easy financing of imports, repatriation of profits, payment of foreign staff and possibilities of forming different types of legal organizations based on full or partial ownership.
